Denver-area resident Joyce Lohse is an author, journalist, genealogist, administrator, and speaker. She grew up in Illinois where she earned a journalism degree in from Northern Illinois University. She serves as administrator for Women Writing the West; is on the board of Columbine Genealogical and Historical Society; is a member of Colorado Authors’ League, National Genealogical Society, Denver Woman's Press Club, and Colorado Historical Society. Serious genealogy research beginning in 1994 led her to stories of historical pioneers and ancestors, one of whom (Eliza Routt) is chronicled in her first Filter Press publication: First Governor, First Lady – John and Eliza Routt of Colorado, winner of the EVVY Award for Best Biography.
