Nancy Oswald is a teacher, rancher, and writer. She lives on a working cattle ranch in the Sangre de Cristo mountains of Colorado. Rescue in Poverty Gulch is her third work of historical fiction for children. Nothing Here but Stones (Henry Holt, 2004) received a WILLA Award from Women Writing the West in 2005. Hard Face Moon (Filter Press, 2008) is a dramatic, poignant novel set in 1864 at the Sand Creek Massacre in Colorado.
