This book of three hundred sixty-five haiku poems may be enjoyed for the poetry itself — or the poetry may used as inspiration for a personal journal. The book is laid out with plenty of space on each page for writing.

The haiku were written in 2001—one on each day of the year—and evolved from the author's desire for both a daily meditation as well as a routine writing exercise. At the time, Laurie Wagner Buyer was living on a high country cattle ranch in Colorado; her husband was dealing with the effects of ill health and aging; and she was finishing a MFA in Writing from Goddard College in Vermont.

The poems, the author explains, “examine those things in everyday life that intrude on our intimacy with the earth: the escape and return of travel, complex people interaction, the simplicity of cooking and chores, the usual holidays, unexpected medical appointments, and the heart-opening demands of being a writer.”

The open space on each page is for the reader to make the book their own.

You can write in the book to:

Explore the Infinite Possibilities of writing
Record your thoughts, feelings, or observations
Experiment with a simple haiku, a complex sonnet, a few sentences, or an essay
Reflect and measure the worth of your days
Find new ways to chart the progress of a project
Develop an outline for your future masterpiece

Infinite Possibilities is a Finalist in the Poetry category for the WILLA Award from Women Writing the West. The following are among the comments from judges:

“Like broken shards of a mirror, Buyer’s haiku reflect a life lived close to nature in tiny, vivid glimpses.”

“A splendidly well written book. The haiku journal has continuity and unity. The use of seasons as a framework gives it structure.”

“Buyer’s book has great graphic attraction. She roped me in with all that space and the sight of her haiku dangling along the edge. I like the curlicue designs as well. There is no question but Laurie Wagner Buyer is a master haiku writer. Page after page, her ability to transform three lines into nimble and bright images is impressive.”

"Infinite Possibilities makes a perfect gift for introspective friends and writers, to become a special place ready to record daily thoughts and events in more artful ways than ordinary journals.
—John C. Dofflemyer. Publisher, Dry Crik Press

"The simple format of the Haiku can bring out the message very well. Infinite Possibilities: A Haiku Journal is a collection of haikus, one for each day of the year offering her random thoughts through the seasons. Filled with simple and attractive verse, Infinite Possibilities is a haiku book that will be enjoyed by many."
