Pose the question, "Red or green?" to the Blonde Chicana Bride and she will answer, "Either!" The book includes recipes for both Chile Rojo (red) or Chile Verde (green). Walk down the aisle—the grocery aisle—with the Blonde Chicana Bride, and return to your kitchen to lift the veil on Mexican cooking.

The Bride's recipes marry simple and easy to use ingredients for forty-five delicious Mexican specialties including sopaipillas, menudo, atole, and Rosca de los Reyes.

This is the third edition of the cookbook, which was first published in 1981. The author—the blonde in the title—compiled these recipes as a young bride of a man of Spanish-Indian-Mexican heritage. She is also the daughter of former Filter Press owner and publisher Gilbert Campbell, and she says, "I should mention I had no choice in the title. My father ... conjured it up and began his campaign of nagging, hassling, and generally grousing me to write a book to go with his wonderful title."

The recipes have been updated since the original publication—when few cooks had a microwave, used a food processor, or paid attention to grams of fat—but the simple, straghtforward approach to traditional Mexican cooking has been constant for nearly three decades.
